Pribilof Islands - The Ultimate Wildlife Experience

Some people know these tiny islands, isolated far out in the Bering Sea, as the home of the famous Alaska king crab. But they are also a mecca for migratory birds of all types and a wide variety of marine mammals, including seals, sea lions, whales and occasional wildlife watchers looking for an exceptional viewing experience, unique in the world. A million fur seals gather here each year to raise their young. The arctic blue fox hunts the tundra of these islands. Puffins, three toed gulls, kittiwakes, cormorants and a large number of other rare species gather at rookeries here as well. These little islands are also home to the largest modern settlement of Aleuts, a distinct indigenous people who have inhabited the islands of the Bering sea for thousands of years. The remote location of these islands, the cultural history of their people, and the abundance of birds and wildlife, make a visit to the Pribilof Islands one of the most exciting and exotic tours available in Alaska.
