
The Ma Johnson's in downtown McCarthy is a fully restored historic hotel. McCarthy Lodge guests are housed in the Ma Johnson’s building, known as “the Living Museum”. You are invited to stay in the center of one of the most preserved mining towns of Alaska's early pioneering days.
Each room is unique and decorated with interesting artifacts from McCarthy & Kennicott.
Most of the rooms have pedestal sinks. Bathrooms are shared.
There are no TV’s or phones in the rooms, but there is wireless satellite internet connections available at reasonable rates.
The New Golden Saloon, right across from the hotel, is a gathering place for locals as well as visitors to McCarthy. Here you will find good music and free pool every day.
Dinners at the Saloon are delicious and due to high demand it is recommended to make a reservation for the evening.
If you are staying at Kennicott Lodge, you can get a free shuttle to the Saloon upon making a reservation for dinner.

Imagine yourself in a ghost town, beside a glacier, surrounded by some of the highest mountain peaks in North America! You could be there, at Kennicott Glacier Lodge, a premier Alaskan wilderness lodge in the heart of America's largest National Park.
Built in 1987, the Kennicott Glacier Lodge is a replica of one of the historic mining buildings from the copper mining boom town days.
Rooms in the old building have a a cold water sink and one or two beds. Restrooms are shared.
In the new South Wing building rooms have 2 queen beds, a dresser, and a private bathroom.

The road ends at the Kennicott River, about 1/2 mile from the town of McCarthy. There you will need to park your vehicle and cross the footbridge over the river. On the other side you will be picked up by your hotel shuttle bus.
