Public Transportation
You do not need to rent a car to get around in Alaska. Public transportation is limited, but places along the road from Seward to Anchorage to Denali to Fairbanks, as well as from Whitehorse to Dawson City to Fairbanks are accessible by train and/or bus. Along the coast, Alaska Marine Highway ferries serve a lot of communities.
